Day seven.
Sat up till 1 a.m. yesterday, took some getting to sleep.
Quite a nice morning greets me today, sunshine, clear skies, but windy.
Am a little uncertain as to what to expect from these Zyban;
I smoked about 20 yesterday and the only perceivable effect seems to be that the rollies taste different and I seem to be putting them out earlier,
looking at the tad ends they are longer than normal for discarded smokes.
My doctor is expecting me to have stopped by the time he sees me tomorrow, perhaps one more day will make a difference but at moment I feel no different from usual,
am sat with early morning cuppa and have had two smokes.
Not going to worry, just let things take their course.
Today I feel much better in myself, good enough to get the work done in the flat which has been neglected.
I spent half an hour last night cleaning fridge out and doing backitchen floor so today the rest of the jobs will be targeted.
Luckily the whole operation shouldn’t take more than an hour.
I roll up my third cig and decided to wait at least another hour before number four.
Am also taking tablet now as apposed to waiting till afternoon.
I do have acid present but not too distressful.
I have tried Zyban before, many years ago when it was first trialled.
On that occasion I took the tablets for four days and then got up one morning and didn’t smoke because ?
I simply didn’t want to anymore.
I was expecting a similar result this time but hasn’t happened yet.
Hopefully doctor will be able to advise tomorrow.
Typing seems to have come on in leaps and bounds over these last few days, seems to have reached a reasonable level of accuracy and speed.
11:45
tablets seem to be kicking now, I cannot get past half a cig without feeling queasy, my stomach is churning and acid runs up and down my throat.
One rollie had to be put out because I felt like vomiting.
Just counted tab ends, nine in ash tray.
Bupropion does not 'make' you stop smoking. You still need determination to succeed, and to break the smoking habit.
I roll up again, I think the time has come for me to do my part in this latest attempt.
Smoking has been made to be unpleasant, in truth not unpleasant enough to stop the hardened smoker but each cigarette is going to bring with it a number of unpleasant sensations.
This will have to be my last, at least for a while.
Unfortunately that smoke was finished without incident, no adverse effects.
Some other side effects I haven’t mentioned are belching, usually accompanied by acid, farting, quite forcibly, and stomach churning hunger like sensations which cannot be quietened by eating or smoking.
I bring up the Realtek manager and adjust audio properties.
Spent afternoon looking at flights to Amsterdam and researching accommodation, there’s a hell of a lot of options available, cabins on the outskirts, B+B and budget hotels in the centre, some of the rates are very reasonable. Would like to take a week’s break over there
If I can find a suitable travelling companion, smoker of course!
Had a concoction of home made meat pie, two day old home made curry( bit of a failure!) and a tine of peas, should either kill or cure the stomach rumbles.
