13 th.January.

13/01/2007
Sat up till 3.30 yesterday to tire myself out, just crawled out of bed.
Weather is sunny but the clouds are racing across the sky and the wind is rattling in the flue.
Place is a bit of a tip and there is over a week’s washing up to do, will see how I feel later.
I look around the room and at the exercise machine not four foot away from me, a machine I haven’t used this year yet!
Will have to snap out of this lazy frame or mind or the weeks will just drift by and nothing will change.

An axe man who brought fear to a pub has been jailed for 21 months; only because he was in breach of a previous sentence! Just what you need when you enter a pub for a night out? Pearson said” it was his favourite axe and he took it everywhere with him.”

AN NHS trust almost £5million in the red gave a former director a £243,000 pay-off - after working for them for just three weeks.
Dr Iheadi Onwukwe was put on "gardening leave" for three years after a dispute with a senior colleague.
Then he was given his golden handshake, which could have paid for 300 cataract operations or given more than 40 patients life-saving heart bypass surgery.

The same trust gave hospital chief executive Annette Sergeant a £231,000 pay-off.
Ms Sergeant, who was earning £135,000, was slammed in a Healthcare Commission report.
After going sick, she negotiated her deal.
Nothing changes there then, money still being wasted and the N.H.S. being screwed by thoses who know how to do it.
Makes me annoyed!
When I visited the heart wards as an out patient following my operation I saw the cheques displayed from the numerous donations, all gladly accepted and then a story like this tells of monopoly figures being given away.
I once met a guy from a large well known hospital in London, he was a fraud officer and dealt with huge figures during his investigations at Ormand street.
Where there is money there is always fraud and waste.
My friend spends days in all weathers busking to collect sums, often only amounting to hundreds for local charities and here are sums of thousands being wasted!

How do I feel today? Physically fine, my back pain has relented and the toothache only hurts for a bout ten to fifteen minutes after eating.
My neck has been stiff of late but today is reasonably fine with only a small section being taut.
The recent erratic thumping of my heart seems to have subsided.
A feeling of semi lethargy seems to prevail but I’ll snap myself out of that eventually.
I think of the meds I’ve been missing taking for the last month and don’t think re starting the course will help this feeling so will continue to do without;
I know for a fact I’ll get a right bollicking from the care worker,
if he visits again,
but will face that when it happens.
The Winter weather hasn’t really threatened me so far and I’ve managed to keep warm and cosy in my little room, opting as I have this year to keep only the one room heated.
I have my week’s holiday booked and therefore have a week’s fishing to look forward to at Skegness.
I look at Skegness as a community and visualise that Redcar , with some work could be a small scale replica; if the business men could agree on the future plans for the town.
I go there, (Skegness), because of the cheapness of accomadation and the huge choice of fishing venues, most of which are purpose built facilities.

I however tend to use the smaller ponds, one of which was built simply to satisfy the owner’s passion for angling and feel honoured to share her water.
The night life is whatever you desire,
there is a Theatre or several pubs which offer the same surroundings as countless other pubs in the country;
there’s also a couple of clubs which offer a more relaxed and civilised alternative with the usual opportunities for Bingo and a good sing a long thrown in for good measure.
Places where one can sit in company of others, talk freely without fear of violence, there is no excessive use of foul language and the prices are reasonable.
True the average age of the punters is 50 plus but hell so am I.
If on the rare occasion I have a day off fishing there is a lovely plain Salvation Army building which serves good quality meals each day at acceptable prices.

The town’s roads at night are full of the local youngsters posing in their cars, but usually the distance between venue and boarding house can be covered in safety, even if one has a couple of pints under the belt.
I need not give the landlord any publicity because most of his trade is from regulars who like us book well in advance,
he knows his clientele and accomadates them all to his upmost.
Meals are sufficiently varied, and everyone knows in advance what each day will bring.
I seldom eat meals at regular times when at home and often skip breakfast so to be in his house and get a full breakfast and a good evening meal everyday is a pleasant change,
He keeps a varied selection of cans which are available to residents 24/7, bar bill is settled prior to leaving.
I spent a few nights sitting in his front room drinking a couple of cans instead of venturing out.
Last year we were lucky enough to pick the best week, weather wise of the year, some days almost too hot for comfort;
I hope we have the same luck this year.
Be the weather fine or not, there are always the two clubs to provide a warm, cheap enviroment to pass away the time.
The shops are close together, close enough to allow one to see them all in a morning.
I usually have a quick reckie of the second hand shops when I arrive and pick out any bargains, that is my shopping for the week unless I spoil myself and buy something for the flat.
There is a market everyday so there is no rush to peruse the items on offer.
We of course time our hols.to be in term time so there aren’t too many children about during the day.
After a couple of hours one soon learns to avoid the disabled carriages and gauge the efficiency of the drivers.
As a tourist, I suppose I’m not what the town is seeking,
I spend my days fishing and may perhaps only spend 12 to 20 hours actually in the town spending.
The amusement facilities, the pool and the beach no longer have any draw for me save for somewhere to walk.

The sky darkens and the room is gloomy, the faint light from the gas fire assures me that there is enough credit in the supply.
I break to do some course work. I am struggling to regain interest in the course and am in danger of falling by the wayside if I don’t get back into it soon.

AN ex-engineer who spent 14 years behind bars for a revenge murder was freed yesterday after the appeal court quashed his conviction.
After walking free from court Andrew, now 36, said: "I am overwhelmed with all that has happened.
A few minutes ago I was a prisoner serving a life sentence for a crime I did not commit.
"I am now a free man. During the past 14 years my mum has died, my friends have got married, settled down and had children, while I have been in prison.
"I am so grateful to all those who have stood by me." He added that describing him as "over the moon" would be an understatement

I couldn’t begin to understand how this guy must feel, I don’t think I could have hung on to my sanity after being sentenced for a crime which I hadn’t committed, I wonder how much he will get in compensation, how does anyone calculate such a sum?

My room of gloom is not getting warm so I have to turn up the fire again and put the lamp on, take a break for another coffee and a slash.
I take a few minutes out to listen to sounds; have chosen New Age today to make a change.
I get a rush of acid into my mouth, something which has been happening a lot recently. Possibly due to the cheap cider?
I take the opportunity to wring out a couple of articles which have been soaking in the bath and hang them up to dry,
Kettle boils and I make a milky coffee with the last of the proper milk. I’ve been searching for a decent tasting coffe for quite a while and seem to have found a reasonable one. Medium roast,
At 89 pence per jar the price is right and it produces a smooth drink which isn’t too dark or strong.
Spell check seems to be in a lazy mood today, few mistakes are being flagged.

As the reader will see, I have been studying styles this afternoon.

“I approach many doors but cannot tell if they open to heaven or hell”
I’ve done a bit of course work but got waylaid into proof reading the preceeding 95 pages,19:37 p.m. Has passed a boring afternoon and kept me interested.
Sat and watched T.V. till 2.30.
