2 nd. March.

9.00
Up early, good sleep, sky is clear and sun is shining; quite a nice day.
Have an appointment with local job centre at dinner time.
Read through my post and the old bank account has finally been closed, another letter is asking me why I cancelled a direct debit to cover P.C. breakdown.
Another letter tells me the rent is due to increase.
I feel better today having got the test out of the way,
I spent a lot of time on last section of study but in fairness it was material which was relevant to my everyday use so obviously I took full advantage.
I look forward to receiving next instalment of course work, it will be something new to me,
Neighbour called to use phone; makes me laugh, they all have mobile phones but cannot afford the credit!
Would be an excellent day to do some washing but don’t think that is likely to happen.
Went onto course site but nothing there yet, can have a couple of days off.
Got ready and went into town for appointment.
Jean, my advisor, seemed genuinely pleased with my progress;
she said the person sat in front of her was a totally different person compared to when she first met me.
She asked if I had any thoughts about desired outcome of study,
I mentioned my possible interest in copy editing and she drew some more names out of the hat, organisations which may be able to help.
Apparently the area in which I live is deemed to be underprivileged and therefore funds are available through the E.U. for disabled people studying.
She made a phone call and sometime this week I should be contacted for an appointment for guidance and possible funding to upgrade my software.
I told her I’d been researching further courses and they may be a slim chance course fees could be paid, will see.
We spent half an hour chatting and she agreed to let me continue under my own steam.
I left and went to the pubs I usually use, both were dead,
I called into club on way home, same as normal, boring,
I called into shop and bought some cans and a bottle of Vodka,
enough to see me over the weekend.
I say weekend because I popped into doctors and was told my prescription for Zyban would be ready about Tuesday, taking these tablets will mean leaving alcohol alone so this may the last weekend for a drink.
I had just poured a drink when the local dealer called.
He skinned up and I examined his purchase.
“Smells half decent”, I said, “You’d better be careful”, I added as I took enough out of the bag for a couple of joints.
He left when I told him I fancied a siesta and at 4. 30 I went to bed, intending to sleep till 7p.m.
I awoke at 11 so made myself a cup of milk and rolled the remainder of the gear into a single skin.
Returning to bed I dropped off again.
