30 April 2007
Got up a little too early this morning so went back to bed till 9a.m. was into gardening by ten.

Health worker called at 1.15 by which time I only had about four square feet of lawn to dig over but was feeling knackered.
We sat and chatted for half an hour; I was glad of break.
He had been anxious about me phoning for prescription; thought I was having an episode,
I explained I was using the tablets for their “sleeping” effect.

I eventually got all the grass turned over and treated myself to a tall whisky then went to bed for a lie down. There was a knock on the door and I jumped out of bed thinking it was the dealer, but no, two guys from Npower.
They explained the company which owned the electric meters were no longer charging a weekly tariff for the meters and therefore I’d be saving £1,50 each week. I actually hadn’t realised they were charging so much so was glad to put my name to paper. Apparently I’ll receive another key in the next two weeks.

I decided to return to bed so set alarm for seven, however I woke up at 5 30 so watered the garden now the sun had gone down a bit.
The garden looks a lot bigger now the grass isn’t visible, will take a lot of effort to get it dug over ready for planting but it has to be done to do a good job.

Will be good exercise.

Am down to last of baccy so am going to have remainder with a couple of whiskies, am very pleased with malt, Glen Moray, good but price and quality wise.

Was looking through my course study results, I have averaged 80-85% so has been quite a productive week.

I thought at first the garden may have been too large a project to take on, but am pleased with progress so far and even though I have had to curse a lot I have got a lot of exercise out of it; a lot more than the advised 90 minutes per week.

I was deading starting on the back garden, the grass is almost two foot high already but now I feel confident I can cope, with a little help from my father.

Phoned the council this morning and told the lady in charge of gardens not to panic so much if she sees a lot of turfs in the garden, I assured her they wouldn’t be there permantly.
Also got in touch with the department that deals with loft insulation and they are going to do my loft and pipe work so should save a little on bills next winter.

Fathers coming down tomorrow so we will decided what to do next, may decided to bag all the turfs up and dispose of them on the local tip or leave them for a few more days to dry out and reclaim some of the soil.
There is another couple of hundred plants to go in so will have to get some or all of the front turned over.
Am going to enjoy a couple of drinks and a couple of hours tv viewing.
