10:46.
Jesus I wrote some shit yesterday!, pauses, realising there isn’t any sounds, I am invited into the Chill out Lounge and I Gladly enter.
Took ages to go back to yesterday’s date to pick up on style brush.
Slept without a second of disturbance, sweet, deep stoned sleep.
I have encountered a problem with my computer, I receive the following message upon start up.
RTHDCPL.EXE-illegal system dll relocation.
The system DLL user 32.dll was relocated in memory. The relocation occurred because the DLL, C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX. OCCUPIED AN ADDRESS RANGE RESERVED FOR SYSTEM dll’s. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL.
Well that’s alright isn’t it? What the fuck is all that about?
I panic and take the opportunity to spark up the joint, for sooth I have no baccy left and therefore this is the only joint today so I’m restricting myself to a couple of totes now and then; such self control, I hear you cry.
Actually the above message is very annoying, it comes on at the start up and announces its presence with a loud, unpleasant thud of a sound.
Or is that my head pounding?
I also get the same thud when being told that messenger is not my preffered e. mail please fix it.
Fuck off! I use hotmail, so do I need messenger.
Decided to go with instinct and wipe out any recent downloads, obviously a bit torrent prog is going to set off the alarm bells, especially because of the tussle I had to download it, I ended up with two freezes during the process and had to terminate manually.
Whatever, I floated to the control panel and got rid, seemed to me the add/remove was already highlighted when I arrived upon it in the list, perhaps mere imagination.
No hassle program gone, I scrutinised the list, deleted another program which I now forget and therefore regret. I realised I was in dangerous territory for a stoner so I left.
I then went into performance and maintenance and entered trouble shooter for start up and shut down.
First topic; How to stop annoying messages appearing on start up, go into msconfig, you remember I said I’d been playing around in there while stoned, so I did think of it as been a possible site of damage.
I was then to look for program mentioned in error message.
Luckily I took the time and spotted the RTHDCPL in the title of the message and recognised it as been activated; simply deactivated by deselecting.
Am now hoping it works. I cross my toes but refuse to restart until got rid of torrent.
have recently played with misconfg but returned settings to what they had been previous to visit. Also downloaded bit torrent.
Think will try getting rid of these first before panicking.
Reboots into diagnostic mode, starts and there is no sign of error warning of dll, stick getting bugged by microsoft outlook!
There is however a notice telling me I’d fucked up and set start up to run diagnostic on every start up.
By now I’m beginning to flush with my own success and the joint is finished. I try to run msconfig and it will not play ball, there’s no way on earth it is going to let me in.
I re read the notice several times and get what I should be doing right in my head.
Surely its telling me to re enter msconfig and re set start up properties to normal.
I retry but still, my requests are ignored. In desperation I give up and stare at the notice some eight foot away from me.
And at the bottom is a box, which says click here to reset settings and stop this message from reappearing.
Just goes to show how much Cannabis does actually help you work.
No, come on has that happened to you? Or am I the only head-less chicken on this planet.
Just as well all the above happened because I didn’t have a clue what the original message was trying to convey,
it didn’t tell me the possible consequences of the file been relocated just told me to follow instructions,
which I once again blindly followed because of my ignorance of so much of what understanding computing entails.
Ignorance; the boundaries of which have been self enforced, often as a safety feature.
The thing about sorting problems out on a p.c. is to use your head. The machine may not be but a tenth of a millionth or whatever the power of your brain, but efficient it usually is, and if I come across a problem I assume I’m at blame.
Don’t question it just accept it, most of the time you are to blame.
That is why I immediately retraced my steps and flagged up any suspect sites I may have visited,
I then thought of things I perhaps shouldn’t have done, msconfig was a prime suspect.
But I was also little worried about my lack of understanding about code and my several attempts to paste code into html.
So obviously if you are constantly altering your settings and preferences then problems will arise.
Fancy not noticing the message box of deliverance.
Why should I have to set outlook as default? I don’t use e. mail that much, very little. Hotmail kicks ass so far. Not fucking about with new addresses, just got used to this one.
http://www.atomfilms.com/film/rabbit.jsp?channelKeyword=channel_holiday_hijinx - none For explanation of this film read on.
Doorbell rang and I answered, as you do, there’s my neighbour,
“ Come to give you the money for the baccy”,
“Got any left? I shot down his neck.
Yes, he meekly replied and offered a pouch to me containing dust,
Dust enough to make a couple of joints up, I explained had grass but no baccy and he was welcome to join.
I stumble upon the above film, no I don’t I’m going through a list of films and none really float my boat so I reach the end one, why not?
I choose it, it has a good write up and is described as weird so has already got my attention.
I spark the joint up and begin to watch a pretty amazing film, two activities in perfect harmony, as you can gather I enjoyed it, and it is weird and unusual, well worth sparking up to.
