19 th May

19-May-07
Mother looked great last night; amazing what a few pints of fresh blood can do, colour returned to face and she looked well considering.
I returned home and made myself a lovely supper of micro waved bacon, mushrooms, garlic, eggs on toast. Didn’t stop up, went to bed.
Woke up this morning to a bright and breezy day, as forecast. Have some more plants to go in today but for some reason my left hip is hurting and walking is painful and slow.
Have decided to have an easy weekend and then get back to the serious aspects on Monday.
I have some revision to do for exam and more importantly got to get myself into a frame of mind to improve health and quit smoking.
This last week has seen me obtaining help from the net to rethink my goals and consider the long-term implications of my current lifestyle.
I have to lose weight, quit smoking and come up with some idea for future learning.
Last week I had what could be described as a minor episode; minor in as much as I recognised the signs and sat back and took the time to think about what could be happening and thus was able to regain control.
Being able to recognise the early possible signs is a great tool in my defence.
I know full well from the statistics that stopping taking regular medication can increase the chance of a relapse but I personally feel that having more sense of control over one’s life outweighs the risk and as long as I am able to help myself then I do not have too many fears.
My main concern at the moment is mobility; each day seems to bring problems of differing levels.
I miss my hot showers on a morning, they were excellent in helping control the back pain and set me up for the day. A bath doesn’t have the same effect.
I may investigate the cost of installing one, anything to make life a little easier.
I don’t know what has brought in the ideas of making changes, furthermore I have no concrete ideas of what or how to change, just have an inner feeling that changes have to be made.
Had a couple of hours in garden weeding and planting several more Aquilegia.
Neighbour came over to apologise for his cat using the garden as a shithouse, on cue the cat sat in the middle of the garden and pissed, luckily it naffed off before scratting the soil.
I knew when I mixed in the six bags of compost that the cats would see it as a heavenly toilet. The guy offered to give me a net to cover the area but as I explained I didn’t create a garden to net it over.
Later I gave the cat a friendly tap on the nose and later still sprayed it with the hosepipe, I think it will eventually get the message. Hope so.
Next year should be different, the compost will have sunk into the soil and there shouldn’t have as much open spaces as there I now.
Vangelis and Ry Cooder, last two artists to be played on one of four new channels on 777 radio, suits me.
